Acne is everyone's worst night mare. Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. It often results in the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and cysts.
An over production of sebum is the main cause of acne. So what is Sebum?
Sebum is an oily, waxy substance produced by sebaceous glands in the skin. Its primary function is to lubricate and protect the skin and hair, preventing dryness and providing a barrier against external elements. Sebum is composed mainly of triglycerides, fatty acids, and wax esters. While it plays a crucial role in maintaining skin health, an overproduction of sebum can lead to oily skin and conditions like acne. Facials and laser treatments can help treat over productive glands.
